WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY AT ECOBUILD STAND: 1689
The GGF is exhibiting at this year’s Ecobuild, with a view to promoting the federation to consumers – particularly the importance of choosing a GGF member to carry out fenestration works. The GGF will be on stand 1689 along with the British Fenestration Ratings Council, which will be promoting the Window Energy Rating scheme (WERs).
The GGF has also been invited by the organisers of Ecobuild to chair one of the seminars. Deputy Chief Executive, Ian Chisholm, will oversee the 12.30-14.00 slot on March 2 – ‘Shedding light on window performance’. This session will examine the latest developments in window efficiency and performance, and the sustainability credentials of different glazing and framing materials and systems. Particular emphasis will be placed on WERs and its impact on specifiers in new-build and retrofit.
Guest speakers at this event include: Giles Willson, the GGF’s Director of Technical Affairs, who will talk about the benefits of WERs to landlords, tenants, and owner occupiers; Rick Wilberforce, the EU Public Affairs Advisor for Glass for Europe, who will take a European perspective on WERs; and Matthew Kirby, Solaglas’s Glass Marketing Manager, who will explore new technology for the fenestration industry.
Ian Chisholm was very positive about the benefits of exhibiting at Ecobuild, and about hosting the seminar. “Because of the Building Regulation changes happening this year it is important that the consumer and industry alike are aware of the environmental benefits of replacing windows and understanding where appropriate what energy rated windows are,” he explained.
“The popularity of Ecobuild has increased rapidly in the handful of years that it has been going, and the seminars receive a lot of interest from visitors, which is good news for the GGF’s members.”
