Cameo choose Schiatti and Tecnocat

Cameo Glass of Swindon have just taken delivery of a Schiatti cup wheel twin edge grinding and polishing machine, along with a new automatic glass storage racking and loading system from Tecnocat, which was supplied and installed by Peter Hawkins Ltd.

Cameo Glass is a family run business, established in 1994, with a vast amount of experience in glass processing, ranging from colour splash backs to glass flooring. The new equipment is part of an expansion plan, and the Tecnocat handling equipment will help fully automate the cutting facility, making it more efficient and safer. The racking, crane and lifting solutions was planned and designed by Peter Hawkins, using the extensive range of equipment available from the Spanish company Tecnocat.

The twin edge grinder from Schiatti will help increase the efficiency of the processing side of the business. The Schiatti BFP 20 is an ultra powerful cup wheel double edge grinding and polishing machine. The equipment can be arranged to work in line with a transfer unit and washing machines. This high speed edger produces a quality flat arris polish on glasses from 3 – 19mm.

Peter Hawkins Ltd is the sole supplier within the UK of both Schiatti and Tecnocat /Turomas equipment. Additionally, they represent the interests of the CMS CNC range and Schraml vertical drills. Within this range virtually every aspect of processing is covered. Peter Hawkins himself, who is the driving force behind the company comments, “we only supply the best machines we can for the glass industry and decided originally to concentrate purely on glass machinery, rather than trying to branch out into other areas such as stone”. Above all else the Peter Hawkins service team has a wealth of knowledge and experience, which is invaluable, and has been gained over many years working with the glass industry.
